t does not have to be difficult or expensive to build your own websites. There are some excellent free tools on the internet that anyone can use to create a professional looking site. Let’s get going through the steps of creating your first website and you will see how it can be done.
1. Use Google AdWords Keyword Tool to do Your Keyword Research.
This is a free program from Google that is optidigital very powerful and shows you how many searches there are for a certain key word. You can also do a search on the keyword to see how many search results come back and this will tell you how much competition there is for a particular keyword. Play around with this program to find highly searched keywords that does not have a lot of competition.
2. Kompozer is an Excellent Tool to Build Your Web Pages.
To build your web pages you will need an html editor. Many of these programs can run you a couple hundred dollars. Kompozer is free for all to use and does everything that you need. Download the program and play around with it.
You can create your web pages from scratch or you can download free website templates and load them into Kompozer. Using a template is a much faster way for a beginner to get started. Just do an online search for “free website templates” and you should find plenty to suite your needs.
Once you have finished creating your web pages in your web editor, then you need to upload them to the web. Kompozer has a publish button in the tool bar that does this but I have found that a program called FileZilla works better when you are uploading a lot of files and images to create your site. FileZilla is another program that is free to use and does a great job.
Filezilla is very user friendly. The files on your computer shows on the left side and files that have been uploaded to the web shows on the right side. Uploading files is a matter of dragging a file from the left side over to the right side and dropping it.
4. You Can Even Get Free Web Hosting But There Are Restrictions.
When you are ready to upload your website you will need a hosting company. This allows your web pages to be accessed on the World Wide Web. Your website will be uploaded to the hosting companies’ servers using the FileZilla program that I just spoke about.
Free hosting will usually have some restrictions that you will have to deal with. Generally there is a limit to the amount of space that you are allowed to use on the hosting companies servers. If your website is small or you only need a squeeze page, then this shouldn’t be a problem.
Also many free hosting sites put forced ads on your site. These are usually in the form of a banner across the top or an ad down the side of your pages. Since they are not charging you a hosting fee, this is how they make their money. You will have to decide if free hosting is right for you or if you need paid hosting.
